We’re on the road again and have been all spring & summer. This time, we’re along the road in Wichita, Kansas, completing Pre-Construction PHOTO / VIDEO documentation for a new multi-thousand foot long water line installation. My point in sharing is simply to remind prospective clients that things are not always what they seem. P-Tn field crews deliver a thorough review of the project site in the form of a Visual Documentation record, for the protection of all parties involved. These photos are just two out of hundreds we captured along the pipeline route.
So, here’s a “boring” photograph along the pipeline showing a newly graded adjacent road that will provide access to a future development. Gravel is in place, the drainage channel is graded, and a culvert has been installed. All this work was completed by the development project builder – NOT by our contractor / client who will be installing the water line along the main road (which is off-screen to the left). The inset photo is of importance here, as it is the ‘next’ photo our P-Tn field photographer took as they moved in for a close-up of that culvert pipe … which you can clearly see has been damaged, likely during the grading process for the new entry road.
Our job in providing Pre-Construction documentation is to create a record of existing field conditions and/or damage, to prevent disputes after construction begins. We now know that the culvert was damaged before our client even entered the area. Consider the cost of replacing a concrete culvert in part – or completely – under this new gravel road, or (even worse) after asphalt has been placed!
Our P-Tn LINKINGapp all digital delivery system will make it easy to find this location on the original plan sheets and review these photographs, should the damage be challenged after completion of the water line project. See how our LINKINGapp works!
We’ve been doing this type of PHOTO / VIDEO documentation for FIFTY YEARS, all over the Kansas City Metro, and throughout the Midwest, for a long list of clients. This example of PRE-Con documentation is highly valued and can become more valuable when supported by a similar approach for documentation of POST-Construction conditions. POST-Con records show all contracted work & restoration was properly completed at the time the job was released to the owner. Avoid costly disputes by having P-Tn complete a photo or video walkthrough of your project site before you enter. And again after you leave. Ask us about DRONE aerial documentation records for larger linear projects.
