This photo has nothing to do with P-Tn’s commercial photography for the A/E/C industries, except that I was fortunate enough to have this opportunity to capture this unique shot. Diggin for roots in the early morning hours as we drove along Route 14 from Yellowstone Lake toward the Sylvan Pass and YNP’s east entrance just beyond… Even from a distance in the relative safety of our car, you can appreciate the massive size, power, and majestic appearance of this impressive creature.
Just sharing this unique photo, even though it’s only a snapshot taken with my cell phone. I don’t always have my big guns with me [that’s photographic equipment I’m referring to] when photo opportunities come my way, and this was certainly one of those. No traffic jam had formed when this big fella caught my attention, but it formed quickly thereafter. My wife and I were struck by how big this grizzly was, finally having an opportunity to be (sort of ) up close and personal, at one traffic lane away. It’s been many, many years of travel thru YNP without seeing bears, and that made this unexpected sighting all the more valuable to us.
