We’ve added a pilot to our DRONE FLIGHT CREW. And surprise that new addition is none-other than Eric Berndt, our P-Tn Founder and resident ‘old guy’! This gives us three FAA Certified UAV Pilots. Eric had the honor of acquiring P-Tn’s first ever drone several years ago. Eric also had the honor of making our maiden drone flight. This took place years ago … before any rules & regs for drone flight and pilot certification became the complex requirements they are today.
The thrill of those first flights also came with the dubious honor of being Pilot in Command when our first drone CRASH occurred. No severe damage to the drone, no property damage (‘landed’ in a tree along a riverbank), no injuries. The technology has improved exponentially in a very short time and is far beyond what was available initially. Eric has many hours of flight experience since our initial drone acquisition, but official FAA certification will now permit ‘the boss’ to add his support to the crew for drone image capture . . . rather than directing our other pilots on their flights.
